Back in late May, during the GKN hazardous materials incident, my daughter was outside supervising children at a school site—less than fifteen hundred feet from those leaking chemical tanks. Seeing that happen, and realizing how close those kids were to danger, was a turning point for me. What followed was a deeply concerning lack of accountability from the company, and a complete lack of action and enforcement from our local government to ensure accountability and mitigate future incidents. That was the moment I knew I couldn't just stand by. I decided to run because we deserve real accountability, proactive safety measures, and a local government that takes action to protect our families.
I'm William Zylla, and when I think about the future of our community, it all comes down to one fundamental value: keeping our neighborhood safe. We all want a place where we can live with peace of mind, and that starts with standing behind the people who protect us. That is why I am fully committed to supporting our first responders. These dedicated individuals are on the front lines every single day, and they deserve our unwavering support. If elected, I will make it my mission to ensure our neighborhood remains safe, secure, and strong. For me, public safety isn't just a priority—it is the foundation of everything we want to achieve together as a community.
When it comes to the safety of our families and neighbors, we cannot afford to be unprepared, as we recently observed during the GKN hazardous materialsnincident. That is why one of my top priorities is building a truly resilient community. If elected, I will focus on expanding our emergency preparedness programs so that every household has the tools and knowledge they need when disaster strikes. But we cannot do this alone. We need to support and grow our volunteer community emergency response teams. These are the neighbors who step up in times of crisis, and I want to ensure they have the resources and training to keep us safe. Together, by investing in preparedness and empowering our volunteers, we can make our community strong, ready, and resilient for whatever comes our way.
Our community is more than just a place on a map; it is our home, and its unique character is something we must cherish and protect. If you elect me, my focus will be squarely on neighborhood preservation. To me, that means two essential things: enhancing our safety and boosting our local vitality. I want to ensure our streets are secure, our public spaces are welcoming, and our local spirit is stronger than ever. But as we grow and move forward, we must also preserve the very heart and character that brought us here in the first place. I am committed to working alongside all of you to keep our neighborhoods safe, vibrant, and true to who we are.
My name is William Zylla, and one of my top priorities is ensuring we are true stewards of our shared resources. For me, fiscal responsibility is about respect—respect for your hard-earned tax dollars. If elected, I am committed to efficiently managing our budget so that every single dollar is used wisely. But we must also look beyond our local tax base. I will focus on maximizing grants and other external funding opportunities to bring extra support directly to our community. By being proactive and responsible, we can secure our financial stability for today and build a strong, lasting foundation for the future.
When I look at our community, I see so much potential in our local shops and businesses. That is why economic development is at the heart of my vision. If elected, I will focus on boosting our local business growth and providing real, meaningful support to the existing businesses that already call our community home. These businesses are the backbone of our daily lives, and they deserve a partner in local government. I am committed to ensuring our homegrown employers have the tools and support they need to thrive and expand right here. Let's work together to build a strong, vibrant local economy that lifts up all of us.
When I look at our community, my top priority is keeping our families safe, and that starts with real environmental accountability. I am committed to holding GKN and other operators fully accountable to our residents. We must ensure they are taking every necessary step to protect our neighborhood and mitigate the future impacts of any potential hazardous materials incidents. Our safety shouldn't be an afterthought. If elected, I will work to make sure we have the proper protections and oversight in place so that everyone in our community can feel secure in their own homes. This is about protecting our health, our environment, and our future, and I am ready to stand up and do the work to make it happen.
